DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (February 18, 2019) โ The U.S. economy should be able to grow at a steady pace in 2019, as long as interest rates do not tighten much further.
That was the message fromย Penn Community Bankย Treasurer Dorothy Jaworski during a presentation Feb. 13 to the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. Speaking at the chamberโs annual Economic Forum and luncheon, Jaworski shared the data and economic indices that she tracks in order to make observations about what might lie ahead for the economy in Bucks and Montgomery Counties and the United States as a whole.
โOur business customers rely upon us for sound, up-to-the-minute financial advice, and monitoring the movements of the markets and interest rates is an important part of thatโ said Jaworski. โWe track a wide variety of economic data, so we can continue to make the smart financial decisions that have enabled Penn Community Bank to remain southeast Pennsylvaniaโs leading mutual financial institution.โ
Among Jaworskiโs predictions for the first quarter of 2019: no additional interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve; continued โnormalโ slow growth in Gross Domestic Product of 2% to 2.5%; inflation that hovers around the Fed target of 2%.
